Bloghopping - 30/09/2001

Jumping from one blog (Jill) to net.narrative and then Brian.Carnell, I ended reading one old critic of one dominant style of blogging: The Link Is King.
The addition of thought, narration, and an editorial presense that finds and demonstrates the relationships between both personal and public events is ideally what amateur reporters could be adding to the web.
My view on that is that rational and well-written thinking takes time (and talent!); and that time is usually first used (wasted?) reading the online press (the BigCo and other blogs). Since I'm using this weblog as a memo, where I collect all the reading I'm interested in (so I can find them again, when I need them), signaling to the potential reader what I liked is usually the only content I can guarantee. If I have time and matter for some enlighted opinion, then you will be blessed with it.
Even if I'm quite convinced that my opinion on everything under the sun is really that important, I quite enjoy the fact to simply tease the reader (with an appropriate quote or, of course, sometimes with a vicious out-of-context one) and let her read and may be even appreciate the article. Don't you HATE when a movie critic tells you the whole plot in his reviews?
As far as I am concerned, reading weblogs is a quick way to scan the news (remember the intelligent agent that were hip a few years ago? instead I have blogs!). If they have an original content (call it a/c or whatever else), it is pure bonus.
Some people have recognized that the best use of a human being's free time is not to do the journalistic equivalent of gathering firewood, but to find new trends. The habit of linking to other sites shouldn't be used to build a human portal, it should be used to supply supporting evidence for the arguments we make every day. It's like we're halfway there already, we're just missing the thesis statement.
Couldn't the simple fact of choosing a link be considered as a way to make my point ? Or should I everytime cutn'paste the same mottos (Content matters..., Free Market Capitalism is not the panacea..., Globalization could be great if it was used in every way, not just the cheap one ..., There is more than one way to do it..., Sex is great, better with lubricants but love is heaven..., Keep an eye on the other side of the fence, it makes you more tolerant if not smarter..., Shit happens..., Free as in Free Software...Life is a beach..., Europe is a fantastic idea..., Rights and Duty are like Yin and Yang...) or even carefully paraphrase the article in order to explain to the reader what exactly was the meaning of life and why 41.99999 is almost the answer to everything ?
Now, if you want to read original content, (and want to read it here instead of the better places kindly suggested in the boxes on the left) I can tell you how great it was to wash my trousers that were completely messed up after my cooking experiment with OliveOil and Mustard, and how the application of K2R magicly helped removing the greasy spots.
