Fancy reading my Looking for the Spam collection ? It's even getting multilingual

I was wrong once more. I should have read better the PHP manual. Hence, my rant against PHP is patched !
LWN suggests you patch PhpNuke
Having fun with G.P.S. (via the OReilly Weblog)
sprezzatura is back online.
Dave exposes his problem with NY Times archives. To be fair with the NY Times, the archives are still available: you just have to pay to have access.
Tout comme les archives de LeMonde. Libé n'en a même pas et c'est pas prè de changer!
Internet 3.0 likes the fact that Amazon is going to scan more and more books so customers can look inside.
A new version of KeyKit is out (you will want to register here if you're new to KeyKit, the programming language and graphical user interface for MIDI, useful for both algorithmic and realtime musical experimentation. (for Linux, Win32 and Mac))
The U.N Article 51 (le même article en français)
Date and personals
Why are arranged marriages looking more and more appealing in this landscape of men seeking women, women seeking men and women, and casual encounters?
(and while I'm at it, No means NO as in NO WAY).
It seems that I'm not the only one reading the Personals for their intrinsic litterary value! Craigslist's personnals.
The War Over Jihad
Jihad should in fact be loosely translated as "to struggle" or "to expend effort" for a particular cause. The term originally referred to a personal existential struggle against one's own moral failings, like pride, fear, anxiety and prejudice. The Prophet Muhammad was reported to have described this internal battle as the Jihad Akbar (Greater Jihad). Alongside that was the concept of Jihad Asgar (Lesser Jihad), which refers to the struggle for self-preservation and self-defense against outside forces, and which has always been regulated by a host of ethical sanctions.
Fury by Salman Rushdie in digest version.
Alter Ego has a French Tech Term of the day on his weblog.
Umami Tsunami wonders how much 7.500 francs is? 2 months rent of a small flat in Paris? A good PC ? Almost a MacOSX-ready iMac ? Around 60 brand new CD ? Nearly one hundred big books ? Or more than 160 paperbacks ? One hundred and fourty nine movie tickets ? More than nine hundreds daily edition of LeMonde ? Or 2500 standard stamps ? 7500 FF is a bit more that le SMIC. And, of course, it's exactly 1143.37 Euros!
First hearing session of Songs in Red and Gray wasn't convincing. I did like a lot Susan Vega's previous opus, 9 objects of desire.
Woody Guthrie at the Library of Congress.
